Job summary

Siemens Energy is seeking an Electrical Engineer in Charlotte, NC to lead electrical designs for Power Transformers. You will perform calculations, define active-part parameters, and ensure designs meet customer specs while aligning with Siemens Energy design rules and quality standards.

You will collaborate across disciplines to develop global design rules and contribute to technical reports, with relocation assistance if needed and eligibility for internal transfers where applicable.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • 5+ years of experience as a design engineer in Power Transformers.
  • Proficient in 2D CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD) and EM simulation/electrostatic analysis.

Responsibilities

  • Perform electrical calculations for Power Transformers and prepare electrical design documents.
  • Design parameters and dimensions of the active part of transformers to meet specs, including losses, impedances, and noise levels.
  • Understand customer specs and project requirements, prepare design review documents and technical reports.
  • Collaborate with sales, mechanical, manufacturing, quality, testing, and service on electrical design topics.
  • Prepare technical specifications for ordering components such as tap changers, bushings, and winding conductors.
  • Estimate quantities for offers/tenders and engage in technical discussions during order execution.

Join our dynamic team as an Electrical Engineer, where you will take the lead in preparing electrical designs for Power Transformers. Imagine being at the forefront of design innovation, optimizing end products while adhering to Siemens Energy’s design rules and quality standards. You will engage in detailed electrical calculations and design documentation, ensuring that every transformer meets customer specifications and project requirements. Collaborate with cross-functional teams and contribute to the development of global design rules, all while making a significant impact in the energy sector.

How You’ll Make an Impact
  • You will perform electrical calculations for Power Transformers and prepare comprehensive electrical design documents.
  • Design parameters and dimensions of the active part of transformers to meet customer specifications, including losses, impedances, and noise levels.
  • Understand customer specifications and project requirements, preparing design review documents and technical reports.
  • Collaborate with sales, mechanical design, manufacturing, quality, testing, and service departments on technical topics related to electrical design.
  • Prepare technical specifications for ordering components such as tap changers, bushings, and winding conductors.
  • Estimate quantities for offers/tenders and engage in technical discussions with customers during offer and order execution stages.
What You Bring
  • You hold a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • You have 5+ years of experience as a design engineer in Power Transformers, utilizing design software tools for medium or large transformers above 100MVA/1450kV. Candidates with more experience may be considered for a higher level and vice versa.
  • You are proficient in 2D CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD) and have experience in 2D/3D electromagnetic simulation and electrostatic analysis.
  • If not already located in Charlotte, NC, must be willing to relocate (relocation assistance may be provided).
  • Applicants must be legally authorized for employment in the United States. Siemens Energy employees with current visa sponsorship may be eligible for internal transfers.
