Job summary

Hitachi Energy in Raleigh, NC, is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to create and optimize components for distribution transformers. The role requires at least 2 years in design within the power industry, with transformer experience preferred.

Proficiency in CREO, 3D modeling, simulations, and FEA is expected, along with knowledge of IEEE/ANSI/NEMA/UL/CSA standards. You will collaborate cross-functionally with sales, supply chain, and manufacturing to deliver designs on time while driving

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering is required.
  • Minimum 2 years of design engineering experience in the power industry; transformer experience preferred.
  • Proficient with CREO, 3D modeling, simulations, and finite element analysis.
  • Familiarity with IEEE, ANSI, NEMA, UL, CSA standards.
  • Strong design-to-cost and design-to-manufacturing knowledge.
  • Proficient in MS Office; SAP experience is a plus.

  • Prepare detailed designs and documentation aligned with project requirements.
  • Develop innovative concepts to meet customer needs.

  • Evaluate design performance and cost to ensure efficiency.
  • Provide technical guidance and solve engineering challenges.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable regulations and guidelines.
