Job summary

Foundation Personnel Inc. seeks an experienced Estimator with a background in US Power T&D construction to support pricing and bidding of transmission, distribution and substation projects.

Responsibilities include preparing estimates, bids and proposals; reviewing drawings and bid documents; take-offs; developing project costs and pricing; coordinating with Project Managers, Engineers and Operations; and reviewing subcontractor pricing to identify cost risks and opportunities.

Qualifications

• Experience estimating within US Power Transmission, Distribution and/or Substation construction.
• Strong understanding of construction costs, labor, materials and equipment.
• Experience with project take-offs and bid preparation.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and specifications.
• Experience with estimating software such as HCSS, HeavyBid, Bluebeam or similar.
• Strong analytical and communication skills.
• Experience working for a utility contractor, electrical contractor or Power T&D construction company preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare estimates, bids and proposals for Power T&D construction projects.
• Review drawings, specifications, scopes of work and bid documents.
• Complete material, labour and equipment take-offs.
• Develop accurate project costs and pricing.
• Work with Project Managers, Engineers and Operations teams throughout the bidding process.
• Obtain and review subcontractor and supplier pricing.
• Identify project risks, exclusions and potential cost impacts.
• Support bid strategy, proposals and client presentations where required.
