Midcontinent-Independent-System (MISO) is offering a 2027 Summer Internship Program in Carmel, IN. The role targets PhD or graduate-level students in Electrical or Power Systems engineering, with a focus on grid and market research and real-world impact.

You will work with Markets & Grid R&D teams, run simulations, analyze data, and present findings. On-site 40 hours/week, with potential for some remote work during the school year.

Qualifications

• Graduate students with PhD candidates preferred in Electrical Engineering or related fields.
• Experience with power systems, optimization, or energy markets helpful.
• Familiarity with Matlab, Python, PSS/E, TSAT, VSAT, or optimization tools like AMPL or Gurobi is a plus.

Responsabilités

• Work with Markets & Grid R&D teams to understand a real engineering or market challenge and define the research question.
• Run grid or market simulations using engineering and optimization tools to compare approaches under real system conditions.
• Analyze historical market or grid data to understand patterns and help build recommendations for more reliable operations.
• Attend community events, intern socials, and development programs to grow professionally and network.
• Wrap up the summer with a final presentation summarizing project work, recommendations, and impact.
