Job summary

Midcontinent-Independent-System (MISO) offers a 2027 Summer Intern position in Power Systems Engineering for undergraduates. You will support reliability studies across Planning and Operations, using Python and SQL to streamline planning, model updates, and workflow automation.

Locations include Carmel, IN (onsite) with housing options; you’ll assist with load forecasts, contingency analysis in PSS/E and TARA, and contribute to real projects that feed into operating guides and planning studies.

Qualifications

• Pursuing undergraduate degree in power systems or closely related field.
• Strong Python coding skills.
• Experience with Excel for data analysis.
• Familiarity with PSS/E, PowerWorld, or TARA.
• Willingness to work full-time over summer.

Responsibilities

• Support power flow studies, model development, and process automation across Planning and Operations teams.
• Run contingency simulations and analyze transmission planning studies.
• Identify grid constraints and summarize findings for team decisions.
• Present project findings to department leaders and mentors.
