Job summary

MISO is offering a 2027 Summer Intern position in Power Systems Engineering (Graduate) in Carmel, IN. This paid internship runs June 2 – August 13, 2027, for graduates pursuing Masters or PhD in Electrical/Power Systems engineering.

Interns gain hands-on experience with grid reliability, modeling, and automation tools. You’ll work on contingency analyses, planning studies, and tool development, with mentorship and networking across MISO’s Planning and Operations teams, and housing available for

Qualifications

• Graduate student required (Masters or PhD) in Electrical/Power Systems or related field.
• Proficiency in Python and Excel; SQL is a plus.
• Familiarity with power flow tools (PSS/E, PowerWorld, TARA) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Support power flow studies and contingency analyses.
• Assist model development and process automation.
• Collaborate with Planning and Operations teams across projects.
• Present findings and contribute to reporting for leadership.
