Job summary

Lake Superior Consulting seeks an Electrical Power Engineer to join our growing team. You will design, analyze, and upgrade medium- and low-voltage power distribution and generation systems for industrial energy clients, and carry work from concept through detailed design, procurement, construction, and commissioning.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from ABET-accredited program.
• Minimum of 3 years of electrical power systems engineering experience.
• Experience designing/modifying medium-voltage (1 kV–38 kV) and LV power distribution.
• Modeling in SKM Power*Tools, ETAP, EasyPower with field-data models.
• Knowledge of NEC, NFPA 70E, IEEE standards for industrial power.
• Ability to read one-line diagrams and vendor drawings.
• Strong writing, communication, and organizational skills.
• Willingness to travel ~10%.

Responsibilities

• Power system analysis and studies including load flow and short-circuit.
• Develop protective relay settings and coordination for feeders, transformers, motors, generators, and buses.
• Design and evaluate grounding systems per IEEE 80/81; soil resistivity and ground grid modeling.
• Size and rate equipment—transformers, cables, buses, breakers, fuses, switches.
• Ensure compliance with NEC, NFPA 70E, IEEE standards; review vendor submittals.
• Prepare design deliverables: one-line diagrams, schematics, wiring diagrams, layouts.
• Provide field support during construction, testing, and commissioning.
• Lead electrical scope on projects and mentor junior staff.
