Job summary

Lake Superior Consulting seeks an Electrical Power Engineer to design, analyze, and upgrade medium- and low-voltage power systems for industrial energy clients, guiding projects from concept through commissioning.

You will lead electrical scope on moderate to large projects, perform load flow, short-circuit, coordination studies, and generate specifications, while mentoring junior staff and coordinating with other disciplines.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited B.S. in Electrical Engineering.
• 3+ years in electrical power systems for industrial, utility, or consulting settings.
• Experience designing/modifying 1 kV–38 kV distribution systems.
• Modeling experience with SKM, ETAP, EasyPower (field-data driven).
• Knowledge of NEC, NFPA 70E, IEEE standards for industrial power systems.
• Ability to read one-line diagrams and protection schematics.
• Strong written reporting skills and client communication.
• Willingness to travel to project sites (approx. 10%).

Responsibilities

• Lead electrical scope on moderate to large projects from concept through energization.
• Perform power system analyses: load flow, short-circuit, coordination, arc flash, harmonic studies.
• Develop and review electrical design deliverables (diagrams, schematics, wiring, interconnection diagrams).
• Specify equipment and write technical datasheets; evaluate vendor proposals.
• Provide field support during construction, commissioning, and site testing.
