Job summary
Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL) seeks an Electrical Engineer to lead and contribute to cutting-edge power system research in the Energy and Environment Directorate. You will model and validate new technologies, participate in field tests, and support secure, reliable grid architectures.
Your work spans transmission planning, grid reliability, and integration of renewables, storage, and conventional generation.
Qualifications
- Minimum: BS/BA in Electrical Engineering with 5+ years of experience, or MS with 3+ years, or PhD with 1+ year.
- Experience in planning or operation of electric utility transmission or distribution systems.
- Preferred: experience with distribution/transmission studies and grid resilience assessments.
Responsibilities
- Analyze, model, and simulate power systems including protection, stability, and reliability.
- Evaluate design options and system integration plans.
- Select components and equipment based on specifications and reliability.
- Develop methods for integrating diverse energy resources into the grid.
- Plan hands-on installation and testing in lab and field testbeds.
