Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL) seeks a Post Doctoral Researcher for the Energy Systems Engineering Group to advance power system dynamics research. The role combines monitoring, signal processing, and grid reliability in a collaborative, multi‑institutional setting.

You will contribute to peer‑reviewed publications, develop novel research ideas, and advance program objectives while growing independence and technical leadership in a fast‑moving environment.

Qualifications

• PhD completed within the last five years or within the next 8 months.
• Proficiency in Python and MATLAB.
• Experience with commercial power system simulators: PSS/E, PowerWorld, PSCAD.
• Strong technical writing and ability to publish results.

Responsibilities

• Develop rigorous research approaches to address modern power system dynamics and grid reliability.
• Collaborate with researchers across groups to deliver solutions for the grid of the future.
• Execute research tasks with increasing independence and manage small technical efforts.
• Publish journal articles, conference papers, and technical reports; present findings to audiences.
• Support development of new ideas and assist in proposal preparation.
