Job summary

MISO is seeking a Power Systems Engineering Intern to help ensure grid reliability through hands-on work in power flow studies, model development, and process automation. You will gain experience with PSSE, TARA, and EMS while coding in Python and SQL to streamline planning studies and workflows.

On a team, you’ll review load forecasts and outage schedules, run contingency analyses, and summarize results for engineers and operators.

Qualifications

• Term: June 2 - August 13, 2027 (summer internship).
• Location: Carmel, IN; Eagan, MN; Little Rock, AR (varies by team).
• Academic Level: Undergraduate.
• Degree: Electrical Engineering, Electrical & Computer Engineering, Computer Engineering, Power Systems Engineering, or related field.

Responsibilities

• Assist power flow studies and model development to support grid reliability.
• Support automation of planning studies and operational workflows with Python/SQL.
• Contribute to contingency analysis and transmission planning projects on assigned teams.
• Summarize findings and present results to the team and leadership.
