WSP USA is seeking a Full-Time Electrical Engineering (ESSP) Intern to join our Summer Internship Program in Phoenix, AZ, with San Diego, CA as a second location. Open to undergraduates or graduate students.

As an intern, you will assist with electrical studies, SCADA development, and power system analyses for utility and industrial clients, gaining hands-on experience under senior staff during a 12-week program that starts May 17, 2027.

Qualifications

  • Actively enrolled in an accredited Electrical Engineering program with anticipated graduation August 2027 or later.
  • Must be 18 or older.
  • Interest in electrical engineering, consulting engineering, electric utility industry, or related field.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills when interacting with others.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally and work in a customer-focused, project-oriented environment.

Responsibilities

  • Support engineering tasks to develop technical, social, and ethical skills.
  • Learn basic principles of Electrical Engineering.
  • Assist with protective relaying: short circuit analysis and relay settings.
  • Support power system studies: power flow and voltage stability.
  • Assist SCADA networking and on-site commissioning.
  • Develop power system control logic and field testing.
  • Prepare data acquisition systems and develop HMI screens.
  • Adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and safety policies.
