Job summary

WSP USA invites students to join its Power and Energy ESSP Internship in Cottonwood Heights, UT for hands-on experience with electrical studies, SCADA systems, and power networks. The 12-week summer program starts May 17, 2027, with mentors guiding you through projects across generation, substations, and transmission systems.

You will learn fundamentals of electrical engineering, protective relaying, and data acquisition while supporting real client work within a collaborative team environment.

Qualifications

• Actively enrolled in an accredited Electrical Engineering undergraduate program with graduation Aug 2027 or later.
• Must be 18 or older.
• Demonstrated interest in Electrical Eng, consulting engineering, or electric utilities.
• Strong interpersonal and written communication for engineering and non-engineering audiences.
• Capable of taking direction from leadership and mentors on project execution.
• Basic proficiency with technical writing, office software, spreadsheets, and tools.
• Willingness to travel occasionally and work in a client-focused, project environment.
• Authorized to work in the United States at internship start.

Responsibilities

• Assist in electrical studies and SCADA development/troubleshooting for utility and industrial clients.
• Support power system planning studies like power flow and voltage stability.
• Design/configure networking for SCADA and protection systems; assist on-site commissioning.
• Develop data acquisition systems and HMI screens; support data transfer and commissioning.
