Job summary

Kiewit is seeking a Safety Intern to support our Project Safety Program across North America. You will help develop site safety policies, monitor activities for regulatory compliance, and assist in safety metrics and training to ensure a safe work environment.

You must be pursuing a degree in Occupational Health and Safety, with strong communication and teamwork skills, and a willingness to travel or relocate as needed.

Qualifications

• Must be pursuing a degree in Occupational Health and Safety or a related field.
• Knowledge of construction safety and OSHA requirements is preferred.
• Working knowledge of computers, Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Attention to detail and ability to identify discrepancies.
• Willingness to work with all levels of the organization.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Safety Professional or EMT certification is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist in implementing and overseeing the Project Safety Program.
• Help develop site safety policies and procedures.
• Monitor construction activities for compliance with regs and company policies.
• Provide corrective action recommendations and assist in safety metrics reporting.
• Review project work plans for safety conformance and assist in audits and training.
• Travel/relocation to project sites as required.
