Job summary

Emerson is seeking a Field Service Engineer (Power Plants) in Houston, TX. You will diagnose and resolve engineering challenges related to the installation, startup, and operation of distributed control systems at customer sites, with extensive travel nationwide.

The role emphasizes project coordination, technical guidance, and strong customer relationships within a leader in automation and power technologies.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in engineering or related STEM field.
Minimum 3 years of related experience.
Working knowledge of power plant subsystems.
Experience with DCS/PLC controls.
Willingness to travel 50-75% of the time.

Responsibilities

Develop project scopes for power and water applications with Sales and Customers.
Conduct site walkdowns and develop cost estimates for retrofit projects.
Develop technical specifications and coordinate with third‑party vendors.
Evaluate contractor bids for installation work.
Manage and coordinate regional projects and scheduling to meet needs.
Lead technical and project meetings and document outcomes.
Design, review, implement, and test control systems for power and water applications.
Develop and maintain control system databases, logic, and operator interfaces.
Support installation, startup, commissioning, and troubleshooting at customer sites.
Provide technical guidance and engineering support to customers and internal teams.
Build and sustain strong customer relationships through clear communication.
