Job summary

Calpine is seeking a maintenance technician to support plant operations at a facility in Mohave Valley. The role involves starting/stopping pumps, monitoring equipment, and performing lubrication, calibration and routine troubleshooting to ensure safe, efficient unit performance.

The ideal candidate has a high school diploma or equivalent and up to four years of related experience, with preferred exposure to test equipment, calibration, and control systems.

Qualifications

• Requires a High School Diploma, degree from technical/vocational school or equivalent.
• Zero to four years of related experience.
• Prefer some experience using test equipment and calibration appliances; experience with machinery repair and control systems is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assists in the operation of plant equipment, starts and stops pumps and auxiliary equipment.
• Checks and ensures proper lubrication and cooling on pumps, motors, fans and compressors.
• Takes and records plant operational data and inspects equipment for faults.
• Performs routine troubleshooting, calibrating and repairing plant electrical, instrumentation and control systems.
• Operates and monitors equipment to optimize unit performance and maintain proper unit output and conditions.
• Assists in switching operations of switchyard circuit breakers as needed and maintains safety standards.
