Job summary

Modo Energy seeks a skilled market modeler to build and maintain dispatch, price, and capacity expansion models tied to the company platform. You will learn Western Interconnection markets, backtest results, and explain outcomes to colleagues and clients.

You will work with Research, Engineering, and Revenue teams to translate market changes into the modeling stack, while contributing to growth and client impact.

Qualifications

• Degree in engineering, maths, physics, economics, or a related field.
• 2+ years in power market modeling, analytics, or a quantitative energy role.
• You write Python that others can run and you work in Git.
• You can write and debug an optimization problem (UC, dispatch, etc).
• You know at least one US power market clears energy and ancillary services.
• You can turn vague market questions into a model.
• You say when a result looks wrong rather than shipping it.

Responsibilities

• Build models: write and maintain dispatch, price, and capacity expansion models.
• Learn your markets: understand ISOs and recent market changes.
• Test your work: backtest vs market outturn and fix issues.
• Explain the results: communicate model outputs clearly.
• Collaborate with Research, Engineering, and Revenue teams.
