Midcontinent-Independent-System seeks a Markets Research and Development Senior Engineer to apply advanced engineering and operations research to electricity markets and grid operations. You will develop simulations, analyze data, and collaborate with engineers, analysts, and external partners to drive innovative solutions.

The role emphasizes modeling, quantitative analysis, and cross-disciplinary collaboration to inform market design and operation improvements within the MISO footprint.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or related field (or equivalent with extra experience).
• Master’s or PhD preferred.
• Experience in electricity markets, operations, or research is required.
• Design/development of software systems for electricity markets is a plus.
• Understanding of market tariffs and NERC/FERC compliance essential.

Responsabilités

• Apply power engineering/OR to analyze data, compare solutions, and recommend actions.
• Develop modeling tools, run simulations, and analyze results for decisions.
• Gather and examine energy market data from multiple sources.
• Use optimization, control theory, and analytics to craft algorithms.
• Document findings with reports, charts, and presentations.
• Collaborate with universities, national labs, and internal teams.
• Advance solutions from concept to production with measurable value.
