Job summary

American Electric Power in Marietta, GA seeks a Line Mechanic C to install, maintain, repair and inspect overhead and underground electrical facilities. Duties build on Line Mechanic D with progression through C-100 to C-400 classifications, testing with voltmeters and ground testers, and working energized circuits under supervision.

Qualifications include a High school diploma or GED, valid Class A CDL, and 4+ years of line work for external candidates.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Line Mechanic C: 1 year distribution electrical power line work or equivalent.
• Line Mechanic B: 2 years as Line Mechanic C or equivalent.
• Line Mechanic A: Apprenticeship with B-200 certification and hands-on demo.

Responsibilities

• Assemble, install, maintain, remove and inspect overhead and underground facilities.
• Test, de-energize and ground URD cable and equipment and troubleshoot energized systems.
• Work on conductors and equipment energized up to 600 volts under supervision as qualified.
• Operate electrical test equipment such as volt meters and ground meggers.
