Job summary

American Electric Power is hiring a Line Mechanic C to perform installation, maintenance, and inspection of transmission and distribution facilities. The role supports work on overhead and underground systems, with progression through C-100 to C-400 skill levels under supervision.

Candidates should have at least one year of line work experience or an electrical power line certificate, and be prepared for overtime and travel.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 1 year distribution electrical line work or related line experience.
• Apprentice lineman training with B-200 certification is a plus.
• Ability to obtain CDL Class A license.
• Willingness to travel and work overtime.

Responsibilities

• Assemble, install, maintain, and inspect overhead and underground facilities.
• Work on conductors, cables, transformers and related equipment.
• Test, de-energize, ground URD cables, and troubleshoot energized equipment.
• Move primary conductors under supervision as experience grows.
• Direct and supervise assigned crew members.
