Job summary

American Electric Power in Indiana is seeking a Line Mechanic C to install, maintain, and inspect overhead and underground distribution facilities. You will work with conductors, cables, transformers, and equipment, using test gear and following safety procedures.

The role builds on Line Mechanic D skills. This position requires at least one year of line work experience, a valid Class A CDL, and readiness for overtime and on-call duties.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Line Mechanic-C experience: minimum one year distribution electrical power line work.
• Line Mechanic-B/A experience requirements as described by the company.
• Valid Class A CDL is required.
• Willingness to work overtime and on-call; travel may be necessary.

Responsibilities

• Assemble, install, maintain and inspect overhead and underground facilities.
• Use volt meters and other electrical test equipment up to 600 volts.
• Direct the work of employees assigned to assist.
• Complete Monthly Apprentice Cards and submit for review.
• Perform testing, de-energizing and grounding of URD cables as qualified.
