Job summary

Dashiell is seeking a Civil Engineering Intern to support a project team by creating and modifying civil and structural design documents under close supervision. You will perform wind load calculations and structural analysis while learning engineering standards and the corporate document management system.

You will gain hands-on experience at job sites, travel as needed, and be responsible for delivering accurate work. Prior internship or power-field exposure is preferred but not required.

Qualifications

• Working toward a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited university is required; power focus is preferred.
• Prior internship and/or related work experience in the power field is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Work with a project team to create or modify all civil and structural design documents and drawings for a project, under direct supervision.
• Perform engineering support tasks such as wind load calculations and structural analysis, with minimal supervision.
• Learn and apply engineering standards including NESC, IEEE, ANSI, AISC and ACI.
• Learn and properly use the document management system.
• Learn and apply corporate standard engineering practices.
• Spend time at job sites to gain hands-on knowledge and additional training in substation construction and design.
• Take personal responsibility for the quality and accuracy of his/her work.
• Bring potential project-related problems and possible solutions to the attention of the responsible party.
• Travel out of town for short periods of time as required by projects and assignments.
• Perform special projects and complete other duties as assigned or requested.
