Job summary

Kiewit Power Engineering in the United States is seeking a Structural Design Engineer to join the Design Engineering team. You will perform innovative design, calculations, and drawings for power generation projects, aligning with EPC contracts and client needs.

The role requires a Civil/Structural or Architectural engineering degree, 5+ years in structural design, familiarity with SAP2000, SAFE, Mathcad, and knowledge of ASCE 7 and AISC codes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil, Structural or Architectural engineering from an ABET-accredited four-year program.
• At least 5 years of experience in structural engineering and design.
• Experience in the power industry or industrial markets is preferred.
• Proficiency with spreadsheets, databases, word processing and computer operations.
• Knowledge of engineering standards including ASCE 7, ACI 318, AISC 360, IBC.
• Licensed Professional Engineer preferred.
• Strong written and verbal communication in English.

Responsibilities

• Prepare designs for assigned structures, including research, selection of lateral force resisting system, analysis and drawings for power generation projects.
• Apply department and industry standards when preparing calculations, drawings and specifications.
• Meet EPC, RFPs and contractual requirements as applicable.
• Research new markets and adapt workflows to deliver project outcomes.
• Coordinate with internal/external partners to address structural issues.
• Prepare, monitor and update project plans, schedules and budgets.
• Support department managers in achieving performance goals.
