Job summary

The Weitz Company is seeking a Preconstruction Manager in Des Moines, IA to lead the preconstruction team and drive successful delivery through accurate estimating and scheduling. You will advocate for owners, coordinate with operations, BD and stakeholders, and transition preconstruction to operations at construction start.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of estimating and/or project management experience in construction.
• Experience for a GC on commercial projects including aviation, education, senior living, public work, or resorts/hospitality.
• Experience partnering with operations, estimating and business development teams.

Responsibilities

• Manage the preconstruction process with focus on client needs and company goals, ensuring timely completion.
• Document and communicate project progress through schematic to construction document phases.
• Develop accurate estimates, scheduling, strategy and communication for preconstruction.
• Monitor progress weekly, adjust plan to stay on schedule and manage cost risks.
• Understand local market logistics and subcontractor/supplier impact on costs.
• Make timely decisions and assess risk implications for the project.
• Collaborate with operations, preconstruction, BD and other stakeholders to ensure profitable turnover.
• Leverage BIM/LEED/LEAN where applicable to client needs and project delivery.
• Support the RFP process with schedules, GC selections and interview prep.
• Build and maintain relationships with clients, subcontractors and partners.
