Placements24 is seeking a qualified Power Distribution Engineer in Welkom to lead planning, design, operation, and maintenance of the power grid. You will ensure reliable electricity supply, analyze networks, and support regulatory compliance within the Free State region.

The role requires a Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering with a Power Systems focus and 5+ years of experience, plus proficiency in ETAP or PSS/E. Substation knowledge and PE/Technologist registration are advantageous.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering with a specialization in Power Systems.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in electrical power distribution engineering.
• Proficiency with power system analysis software ETAP or PSS/E.
• Registered as Professional Engineer (Pr. Eng.) or Technologist (Pr. Tech. Eng.) is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Plan, design, and optimize the electrical distribution network, including substations and lines.
• Conduct load flow studies and short circuit analysis.
• Manage maintenance and upgrade projects for distribution infrastructure.
• Ensure compliance with electricity regulations and safety standards.
• Liaise with regulatory bodies, contractors, and internal teams on projects.
