Job summary

Hanson Professional Services Inc. is seeking a Power Controls Engineer to design and integrate control systems for electric power infrastructure, including SCADA and substation communications. This role focuses on technical depth rather than project management.

You will work with multi-disciplinary teams, coordinate with utilities, and contribute to secure, reliable operations while advancing integration of fiberoptic networks and protective relays.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or related field.
• 5–10 years of experience in power system controls, substation automation, or SCADA in power/utility.
• Experience with substation or transmission projects and power system communication.
• Knowledge of SCADA systems, protective relaying communications, and utility operations.
• Ability to collaborate across multidisciplinary teams.

Responsibilities

• Design SCADA, substation automation, and power system communication architectures.
• Develop control and monitoring schemes for substations, transmission systems, and operations centers.
• Assist with commissioning, testing, and troubleshooting of control and communication systems.
• Coordinate with utilities and IT/OT stakeholders on interfaces and data exchange.
• Review drawings and specifications to ensure proper integration of controls and communications.
