Job summary

Hanson Professional Services, Inc. is seeking a Power Controls Engineer to design, implement, and integrate control systems and communication networks for electric power infrastructure projects.

This role focuses on secure, coordinated operation across substations, transmission systems, and control centers, including SCADA and protective-relaying communications. The position collaborates with substation, transmission, civil, and IT/OT teams to deliver reliable power system control and monitoring

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or closely related field.
• 5–10 years of experience in power system controls, substation automation, or SCADA.
• Experience with substation/transmission projects and power system communication.

Responsibilities

• Design and support SCADA, substation automation, and power system communication architectures.
• Develop control and monitoring schemes for substations, transmission systems, and ops centers.
• Assist with commissioning, testing, and troubleshooting control and communication systems.
• Coordinate SCADA data mapping, I/O, and alarm philosophies.
• Review drawings and specifications for proper integration of controls and protection.
