Hanson Professional Services, Inc. is seeking a Power Controls Engineer to design, implement, and integrate control systems and communications for electric power infrastructure projects. This role focuses on SCADA, substation automation, and protection interfaces across utilities, substations, and control centers.

The engineer collaborates with substation, transmission, civil, and IT teams to ensure reliable, secure operation and seamless data exchange across power networks.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering required.
• 5-10 years of experience in power system controls, substation automation, or SCADA within the power/utility industry.
• Experience with substation or transmission projects and power system communications.
• Knowledge of SCADA systems, protective relaying, and utility operations requirements.

Responsibilities

• Design and support SCADA, substation automation, and power system communication architectures.
• Develop control and monitoring schemes for coordination between substations, transmission systems, and operations centers.
• Support integration of field devices (IEDs, RTUs, PLCs, protective relays) into control networks.
• Assist with commissioning, testing, and troubleshooting of control/communication systems.
• Coordinate with utilities and IT/OT stakeholders on data exchange and interfaces.
