Job summary
Hanson Professional Services Inc. is seeking a Power Controls Engineer to support the design, implementation, and integration of control systems and communication networks for electric power infrastructure projects.
This role emphasizes specialized technical expertise in SCADA, substations, and protection coordination, working across substation, transmission, civil, and IT/OT teams to ensure reliable, secure operation of power systems.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering.
- 5–10 years of experience in power system controls or SCADA.
- Experience with substation automation and protection coordination.
- Familiarity with SCADA protocols and utility requirements.
Responsibilities
- Design and support SCADA, substation automation, and power system communication architectures.
- Develop control schemes coordinating substations, transmission systems, and operations centers.
- Assist with commissioning, testing, and troubleshooting control and communication systems.
- Prepare technical deliverables: schematics, wiring diagrams, and network diagrams.
