Job summary

Hanson Professional Services, Inc. in the United States seeks a Power Controls Engineer to design, implement, and integrate control systems and communication networks for electric power infrastructure projects.

This role focuses on interfaces among substations, transmission systems, and control centers, including SCADA, protective-relaying communications, and fiberoptic networks. You will work with multidisciplinary teams to ensure reliable and secure power system operation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or related field.
• 5–10 years in power system controls, substation automation, or SCADA.
• Experience with substations, transmission projects, and utility networks.
• Knowledge of SCADA, protection communications, and utility operations.

Responsibilities

• Design SCADA, substation automation, and power system communications architectures.
• Develop control and monitoring schemes coordinating substations, transmission systems, operations centers.
• Assist with commissioning, testing, and troubleshooting control and communication systems.
• Review drawings and specifications for integration of controls, communications, and protection.
