Job summary

UT-Battelle seeks a postdoctoral researcher to develop in situ interfacial characterization techniques for silicon-based materials and to map their electrochemical performance with chemical changes. The role involves cross-group collaboration, training of new scientists, and extensive use of Raman, electron microscopy, infrared spectroscopy, and X-ray/neutron methods to advance energy storage science.

The candidate will contribute to reports and peer-reviewed publications while working on

Qualifications

  • PhD within the last five years.
  • Experience with interfacial studies in energy storage materials preferred.
  • Strong publication record in peer-reviewed journals or patents is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct electrochemical analyses of battery materials.
  • Design and evaluate cells for in situ and time-resolved studies.
  • Synthesize and characterize composite electrodes.
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary research with ORNL teams.
  • Publish results in peer-reviewed journals and present findings.
