Job summary
Los Alamos National Laboratory is seeking a Postdoctoral Research Associate to develop and apply advanced in situ and operando X-ray spectroscopy to understand the chemistry and local structure of critical materials during chemical separation and electrochemical processes.
The successful candidate will use synchrotron-based XAS (HERFD XANES/EXAFS) with complementary techniques to study coordination chemistry, speciation, and reaction mechanisms under processing conditions, including rare-earth
Qualifications
- Ph.D. in a related field completed within the last five years.
- Strong background in X-ray spectroscopy (XAS, XANES, EXAFS).
- Experience with operando/in situ spectroscopy for chemical/material processes.
- Background in electrochemistry and surface characterization techniques.
Responsibilities
- Design and conduct experiments at DOE synchrotron facilities.
- Develop in situ and operando sample environments for XAS measurements.
- Analyze and interpret spectroscopic datasets across interdisciplinary teams.
- Lead beamtime campaigns and contribute to high-impact publications.
