Job summary

The Idaho National Laboratory is seeking a Postdoctoral Research Associate in chemistry, materials science, chemical engineering, geochemistry, or a related discipline to develop electrophoretically driven silicate gel platforms for extracting and separating critical metals from silicate-rich feedstocks.

The successful candidate will collaborate with the Principal Investigator and multidisciplinary teams at the Energy Innovation Laboratory, contribute to manuscript writing, present results at

Qualifications

• PhD must be completed by commencement of appointment and within the previous 5 years.
• Experimental research on electrophoretically driven silicic acid polymerization and metal extraction.
• Characterization using EXAFS, XPS, FTIR, PDFs, and electron microscopy.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and test ligand-assisted free-flow electrophoresis systems for selective metal separations.
• Coordinate experimental design, data interpretation, and method development across tasks.
• Write scientific manuscripts and present results at conferences.
