Job summary

YMCA in Winston-Salem seeks energized lifeguards to ensure pool safety, enforce rules, and welcome members with brief, friendly explanations. You will maintain active surveillance, perform equipment checks, and respond immediately to emergencies per YMCA policies.

Certifications required: CPR for the Professional Rescuer, AED, Basic First Aid, and Emergency Oxygen, plus current YMCA Lifeguard certification or equivalent.

Qualifications

• CPR for the Professional Rescuer, AED, Basic First Aid and Emergency Oxygen certifications are required.
• Current YMCA Lifeguard certification or equivalent.
• Minimum age 16 for part-time lifeguards and 18 for full-time; maintain certification and readiness.

Responsibilities

• Maintain active pool surveillance and enforce safety rules.
• Respond immediately to emergencies per YMCA policies and the Safe-in-Six model.
• Build positive relationships with members while explaining pool rules briefly and educationally.
• Perform equipment checks, chemical testing as needed, and complete required reports.
