Job summary

Davie Family YMCA in Mocksville, NC is seeking a part-time lifeguard to supervise the pool, enforce safety rules, and assist members with a friendly, educational approach.

You will perform equipment checks, respond to emergencies, maintain records, and participate in staff trainings. The role requires current CPR, AED, First Aid, and YMCA Lifeguard certifications, plus clear communication and vigilance on all shifts.

Qualifications

• Minimum age 16 for part-time shifts; 18+ for full-time.
• Current CPR, AED, First Aid, and Emergency Oxygen certifications.
• Must cross-over to YUSA Guard within 90 days of employment.
• Maintain certification readiness and lifeguard skills.
• Comply with YMCA safety rules and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Maintains active surveillance of the pool area.
• Responds to emergencies per YMCA procedures and completes required reports.
• Builds positive relationships with members and participants.
• Explains pool rules in a friendly, educational manner.
• Performs equipment checks and ensures proper safety gear.
• Attends all staff meetings and in-service trainings.
