Job description

Primary Function

Performs duties of a Sleep Lab Technician, scores sleep records of patients, and prepares reports for physician interpretation.

Responsibilities
  1. Performs duties of a Sleep Lab Technician and evaluates PSG and MSLT recordings. Generates computerized PSG reports.
  2. Interprets raw data: scores polysomnograms for sleep stages using standardized criteria; computes parameters such as sleep latency, sleep efficiency, and percentages of sleep stages; analyzes apneas and arousals (muscle and spontaneous).
  3. Determines heart rate ranges for waking and sleeping stages; identifies and quantifies abnormalities in cardiac activity and respiration; recognizes normal/abnormal patterns, artifacts, and sleep/wake stages.
  4. Assists in marketing the sleep lab to the outside community and staff physicians.
  5. Provides information to medical staff regarding test capabilities and requirements to enhance understanding of polysomnographic testing.
  6. Provides in-service education to sleep lab staff.
  7. Performs all other related duties as assigned.
Job Qualifications and Specifications

Vocational/technical training and a minimum of one year’s relevant experience or equivalent are required.
