Job Description

THE ROLE: Technician, Post Production (Temporary)

Freelance, Non-Exempt, Hourly (40 hours/week)
Work Schedule: 9:30 am - 6:00 pm

The Post Production Technician will collaborate with internal production teams to provide technical support, maintaining the media supply chain from asset receipt to final delivery across broadcast and digital channels. Responsibilities include pre-shoot/shoot advisement and support, impacting media and assets for post-production. The Technician reports directly to the Supervisor of Technical Operations.

MORE ABOUT WHAT YOU'LL DO:

  • Initial ingest of media into the A+E Production Operations ecosystem (file transfers, hard drive deliveries), including virus scanning, registration, and archiving of new assets.
  • Media trafficking to/from managed services and external vendors as required.
  • Hard drive recycling and assistance with media archiving.
  • Providing technical support and advisement on production tech specs impacting media ingest and post-production.
  • Troubleshooting media and technical issues, and providing hotline support.
  • Collaborating with Engineering on file transfer solutions for the edit environment.
  • Communicating resolutions and best practices across the department.
  • Assisting with remote user setup.
  • Managing final asset delivery, distribution, and trafficking.

BASIC REQUIREMENTS:

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in post-production technical support, including offline/online procedures and best practices. Experience as an Assistant Editor or Media Manager is a plus.
  • Knowledge of camera RAW codecs and folder structures.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of post-production workflows, software, and systems such as Adobe Creative Suite, Avid Media Composer, Interplay, Resolve.
  • Experience with remote workflows and technologies like HP-RGS, Avid Edit on Demand, Teradici.
  • Experience with file transfer and cloud solutions such as Aspera, Signiant, Media Silo, Frame.io, FTP.
  • Comfortable with encoding/transcoding solutions including Media Encoder, Teranex, Telestream Vantage, and Alchemist for HD and SD media.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite/Office 365, Google G-Suite, Shift, Mac OSX; Airtable experience is a plus.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:

  • An understanding and appreciation of operational and logistical aspects of post-production, with the ability to implement new technical workflows.
  • Effective project management skills to prioritize and handle multiple projects.
  • The ability to communicate issues clearly and facilitate rapid solutions.
  • A proactive approach to gaining technical and institutional knowledge.
  • Independent and efficient work habits, with awareness of when to seek assistance.

Please note: Project assignment associates are engaged on a temporary basis for specific projects, hired through a third-party vendor, with a duration not exceeding 18 months.

Compensation

Contract Hourly Pay Rate: $32.00
