Job summary

TikTok is seeking a policy leader to define a durable foundation for its Trust & Safety ecosystem. You will guide cross-policy priorities, embedding human rights in policy development and communicating principles through Community Guidelines.

You will partner with policy SMEs, product teams, enforcement, legal, and data science to ensure policy decisions are clear, consistent, and implementable across the platform.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in Trust & Safety, platform policy, product policy, public policy, law, human rights, technology policy, academia, or related field.
• Excellent writing, editing, and executive communication skills, with the ability to turn complex topics into clear, actionable materials.
• Strong policy judgment and ability to reason across multiple issue areas, product contexts, and risk trade-offs.
• Experience developing policy frameworks, principles, standards, guidance, or governance documentation.
• Exceptional ability to work cross-functionally with partners such as product, legal, comms, operations, enforcement, public policy, and data science.
• Self-starter with strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple workstreams in a fast-moving environment.
• Strong understanding of online safety, content policy, platform governance, social media, or technology policy issues.

Responsibilities

• Draft and refine policy materials for downstream teams, ensuring clarity, consistency, and defensibility.
• Support cross-policy and product-policy initiatives, including AI-generated content, human rights, spam, account integrity, and appeals.
• Translate complex safety and societal issues into practical policy frameworks and decision logic.
• Advise on policy alignment for new features, launches, and cross-functional initiatives with clear ownership and review paths.
• Develop and maintain foundational policy documentation, including principles, frameworks, glossaries, templates, and style guides.
• Build reusable tools and self-serve resources for policy teams to apply policy consistently.
• Provide structured feedback on policy drafts, enforcement guidance, and related materials.
• Support leadership visibility into major cross-policy initiatives and governance risk.
