Job summary

The NYC Department of Social Services, via the Office of Performance Management and Data Analytics (OPMDA), seeks City Research Scientists II to act as Project Manager, guiding data-driven reporting across DHS and HRA programs.

You will craft reports, transform administrative data into performance indicators, manage a portfolio of analyses, and present findings to agency leadership. Strong SQL, policy awareness, and communication are essential.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in an appropriate field of physical, biological, environmental or social science or in public health.
• Doctorate degree with specialization in an appropriate field and relevant supervisory/research experience; or Master’s with substantial research experience.

Responsibilities

• Craft reports guiding program areas by tracking goals and agency-wide performance.
• Oversee a portfolio of reports for specific program areas and ensure regular updates to managers.
• Transform administrative data into indicators needed for managing policy and programs; conduct analyses.
• Prepare written reports on policy issues, findings and recommendations and present to agency staff.
