Job summary

NYCHA is seeking a Data Scientist within the Performance Tracking and Analytics Department to review databases, develop visualizations, and respond to data requests across departments. The role supports HUD reporting and city-wide planning with a data-driven approach.

You will design studies, run analyses, and present findings to improve operational effectiveness, with emphasis on data quality and cross-department collaboration in a citywide context.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a computer-related field and four years of full-time experience in the area; or
• Associate degree and six years of full-time experience; or
• Bachelor’s degree and eight years of full-time experience; or
• Education/experience equivalent to the above.

Responsibilities

• Review databases and processes to improve data reporting and integration across platforms such as Power BI, SAS, ArcGIS, Datawarehouse.
• Collaborate with IT teams to understand applications, setups, feedback, and defects.
• Respond to internal/external data requests for administrative data.
• Prepare large datasets for HUD reports and Mayor’s Management Report submissions.
• Use statistics and data visualization to conduct operations research on administrative data.
• Design studies, run analyses, and present results to create complete views of NYCHA operations.
• Assist with trend analyses of demographics and other research projects.
