This job involves typing and administrative tasks related to police reports and memos, including transcription from dictation and source documents. Work is conducted in a law enforcement setting, requiring transcription, proofreading, and merging of reports to ensure proper coding according to FBI standards. The role also includes responding to inquiries, providing information, making referrals, and relaying messages for personnel. Supervision is direct during training and becomes general once procedures are learned, with assignments following established department procedures.
This series offers an automatic progression from Police Report Typist 1 to Typist 2 after 30 months, during which employees are expected to assume full responsibilities under general supervision.
CURRENT VACANCIES: Two full-time positions are available, working Monday through Friday during daytime hours at customer service windows.
This recruitment will establish an eligible list for future vacancies (any shift) within six months.
