Job summary

MU Health Care is seeking a collaborative Point of Care Coordinator to drive quality and regulatory compliance across patient testing programs. The role focuses on leading training, coordinating with nursing leaders, and advancing best practices in point-of-care testing.

You will partner with multidisciplinary teams, implement data-driven improvements, and prepare procedures for CAP and DNV inspections while mentoring staff to ensure accuracy and adherence to standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required; Medical Technologist/MLS or equivalent certification preferred.
• ASCP/AMT CPP or equivalent certification acceptable.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate with nursing leaders and CED to ensure staff performing POC testing comply with federal, state and local requirements.
• Coordinate training and competency programs for all POC instrument operators.
• Serve as a liaison for the laboratory with other healthcare providers.
• Establish and monitor a quality assurance program including QC, proficiency testing and documentation of results.
• Prepare for CAP and DNV inspections and write/update test procedures.
• Evaluate requested POC equipment and technologies for usefulness vs. cost and limitations.
• Ensure initial test validation, standardization, correlation, operation, QC, maintenance and troubleshooting as per guidelines.
• Order and maintain inventories of supplies and reagents for POC testing and verify regulatory acceptability.

Education
