Job summary

Laminar is seeking a PLC Integration Engineer to own the network and control-system layer of customer deployments. This hands-on role blends industrial automation, IT/OT networking, and edge software to bring sensors online, stable, and talking to factory control systems.

You will configure networks, commission PLC connections, and troubleshoot integration issues from first install through steady-state operation, with travel up to 50% to customer sites.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Electrical Engineering.
• Hands-on experience with PLC platforms and industrial communication protocols: Ethernet/IP, Modbus (TCP/RTU), PROFINET, or equivalent.
• Proficiency with Git/GitHub, Python scripting, and Linux command-line fundamentals.
• Undergraduate coursework or equivalent in networking fundamentals: IP addressing, subnetting, VLANs, DNS, NTP, and TCP/IP stack.
• Comfortable debugging data-flow problems and following a packet trace.
• Portfolio of projects showing networking, systems integration, debugging, or problem-solving.
• Strong cross-functional communicator across IT/OT and internal teams.
• Willingness to travel up to 50% to customer sites.

Responsibilities

• End-to-end network and PLC integration of Laminar’s edge devices into customer OT environments, onsite and remote.
• Configure and troubleshoot Ethernet/IP, Modbus TCP/RTU, PROFINET data exchange between Laminar hardware and customer PLCs/SCADA.
• Diagnose field network issues (IP config, DNS, NTP, outages) and fix root causes.
• Collaborate with customer process, IT, and OT teams during deployment pilots to ensure on-schedule online operation.
• Document repetitive tasks and help engineer them away to scale deployments.
• Support Site Acceptance Test completion and customer sign-off with the broader FDE team.
