Job summary

Carlisle Controls Integration (CCI) is seeking multiple PLC Automation Engineers to support deployment, commissioning, and go-live phases of large-scale warehouse automation projects. You will focus on field execution, modify PLC code, and ensure SAT is completed successfully.

The role requires hands-on experience with Rockwell PLCs, HMI design, and industrial networks, with travel on a 10/4 schedule and extended shifts during critical windows. A project-based, full-time assignment is available.

Qualifications

  • 2-4 years of industrial controls engineering or field commissioning experience.
  • Rockwell Studio 5000/RSLogix 5000; Siemens/Schneider platforms preferred.
  • Experience with FactoryTalk View or Ignition for HMI applications.
  • Solid understanding of VFDs, induction motors, and 480VAC motor control layouts.
  • Familiarity with EtherNet/IP, DeviceNet, and Profinet.
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, EE Tech, ME, CS or related field.
  • Ability to travel 10 days on / 4 days off and extend shifts during critical commissioning windows.

Responsibilities

  • On-Site Execution: Lead and assist in commissioning of complex automated material handling systems and SAT.
  • Software Implementation: Write/modify PLC code and develop HMI applications.
  • System Integration: Ensure reliable network communications across subsystems.
  • Technical Troubleshooting: Diagnose I/O faults using PLC/HMI tools and electrical tests.
  • Documentation Management: Review schematics and produce as-built drawings.

Field commissioning role supporting large-scale warehouse automation deployments across the U.S. Significant opportunity for OT and 2 paid travel days per 14-day rotation.

Position: PLC Automation Engineer
  • Company: Carlisle Controls Integration (CCI)
  • Locations: California, Wisconsin, and others (can live anywhere in the US, must travel for 10 day site rotations)
  • Employment Type: Full-time W-2 (Project-Based Field Employee)
  • Duration: 12 Months (with potential for extension through 2027 based on project needs and performance)
  • Rotation Schedule: 10 days on site / 4 days off
  • Travel Logistics: Travel time is compensated as part of scheduled field rotation hours in accordance with applicable labor laws and company policy.
Compensation and Benefits
  • Base Pay Range: $36.00
  • Overtime Eligibility: Non-exempt position. Standard FLSA overtime regulations apply (1.5x base rate for hours exceeding 40 in a designated workweek).
  • Per Diem: $68.00/day (site days), provided in accordance with company travel policy and assignment location.
  • Travel Expenses: 100% of flights, lodging, and rental vehicles are fully covered via corporate expense structures and reimbursed or settled weekly.
Position Overview

Carlisle Controls Integration is seeking multiple PLC Automation Engineers to support the deployment, commissioning, and go-live phases of large-scale warehouse automation systems for prominent material handling integrators. This role focuses on execution within the field environment, specifically addressing software modifications and final system acceptance testing (SAT).

Key Responsibilities
  • On-Site Execution: Lead and assist in the physical commissioning of complex automated material handling systems. Deliver site support and execute formal system acceptance testing (SAT).
  • Software Implementation: Write, modify, and implement programmable logic controller (PLC) code and develop human-machine interface (HMI) applications.
  • System Integration: Integrate discrete subsystems and ensure consistent industrial network communications across the platform.
  • Technical Troubleshooting: Isolate, diagnose, and rectify controls input/output (I/O) faults using PLC/HMI software diagnostics and standard electrical testing tools.
  • Documentation Management: Review electrical schematics, provide precise as-built engineering drawings, and maintain high-quality technical documentation.
Required Qualifications and Skills
  • Experience: 2-4 years of industrial controls engineering or field commissioning experience.
  • PLC Hardware/Software: Required: Experience with Rockwell Automation PLC programming (Studio 5000 / RSLogix 5000). Experience with Siemens or Schneider platforms is preferred.
  • HMI Platforms: Experience designing or modifying applications within FactoryTalk View or Ignition is required.
  • Electrical Systems: Solid understanding of Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs), induction motors, and 480VAC motor control panel layouts.
  • Industrial Protocols: Familiarity with network topologies including EtherNet/IP, DeviceNet, and Profinet.
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, related STEM field, or equivalent combination of education and relevant field experience.
  • Availability: Ability to accommodate a 10 days on / 4 days off travel schedule, including extended daily shift hours during critical commissioning windows.
