Job summary

Basecamp Research is seeking a Scientist I, Platform Innovation in Cambridge, MA to lead the establishment of a new screening lab focused on gene editing and cellular engineering. You will develop and scale assays, screen libraries, and collaborate with Data Science and AI teams to drive therapeutic discovery.

Qualifications

• PhD in life sciences or MSc with hands-on lab exp.
• Expertise in gene editing and NGS assay development.
• Experience with high-throughput cloning and mammalian cell workflows.

Responsibilities

• Establish a new screening platform for discovery and engineering of gene editing tools.
• Build and screen plasmid libraries and develop scalable cloning workflows.
• Quantify editing outcomes using ddPCR, qPCR, flow cytometry, and NGS readouts.
• Optimize hits for activity and specificity in human primary cells and cell lines.
• Document best practices and help establish lab SOPs as a founding team member.
