Job summary

Arbor Biotechnologies in Cambridge, MA seeks a Senior Scientist to advance protein engineering workstreams for genome editing tools, generating best-in-class molecules. You will design mutants, run cellular and biochemical screens, analyze data, and report results to teams.

You will collaborate with computational and experimental groups, applying AI-enabled design, interpreting results, and guiding next steps while documenting findings for internal stakeholders and potential IP filings.

Qualifications

  • PhD in biology, biochemistry, molecular biology, bioengineering, or related discipline with 2+ years of related experience.
  • 3+ years of experience engineering enzymes or proteins to improve function, including kinetics, stability, activity, specificity, expression.

Responsibilities

  • Drive defined workstreams within protein engineering campaigns, including design, generation, and evaluation of protein mutants and variants.
  • Collaborate with project leads and cross-functional partners to plan experimental approaches and follow-up studies.
  • Apply structure-guided engineering, deep mutational scanning, or related strategies based on project goals.
  • Independently design and execute experiments to test hypotheses and evaluate variant performance.
  • Analyze results and recommend next steps to support iterative design-build-test-learn cycles.
