Job summary

Beam Therapeutics in Cambridge, MA seeks a highly motivated Co-op to join the Gene Editing Platform Technologies team from January through June 2027.

You will work with scientists to engineer and optimize gene editing systems, co-develop experimental plans, generate reagents, and present findings to stakeholders.

Responsibilities include mammalian cell culture, transfection, data analysis, and documentation; you must be enrolled in a degree program.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a BA/BS or MS in life sciences with at least 1 year of lab experience in academia or industry.
• Proficiency in molecular biology and cell culture workflows such as sterile technique, PCR, and transfection.
• Excellent organizational, time management, and written communication skills.
• Proficiency with data analysis and visualization tools (Benchling, Geneious, GraphPad Prism, Excel).

Responsibilities

• Maintain coordination with project leaders to meet ongoing needs.
• Adhere to laboratory protocols precisely.
• Keep accurate electronic lab notebook records.
• Perform routine mammalian cell culture maintenance tasks.
• Support reagent generation including small-scale mRNA production in a high-throughput setting.
• Conduct mammalian cell transfection and genomic DNA isolation experiments.
• Register and submit samples for NGS analysis.
• Analyze data and present findings to project leaders.
• Present data and key learnings in various meetings.
