Job summary

Speechify is seeking a backend engineer to design, develop, and maintain robust APIs, including the public TTS API and internal services like Payments, Subscriptions, Auth, and Usage Tracking.

This role emphasizes scalable, high-availability backend systems in a fully distributed environment, collaborating with cross-functional teams to align architecture with product goals and user experiences. The candidate should thrive in fast-paced settings and deliver results quickly.

Qualifications

• Proven backend development experience using TS/Node.
• Direct experience with GCP and knowledge of AWS, Azure, or other cloud providers.
• Efficient ideation and implementation, prioritizing tasks by urgency and impact.
• Preferred: Docker and containerized deployments.
• Preferred: Kubernetes deployment experience.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain robust APIs including public TTS API, internal APIs like Payment, Subscription, Auth and Consumption Tracking, ensuring they meet business and scalability requirements
• Oversee the full backend API landscape, enhancing and optimizing for performance and maintainability
• Collaborate on B2B solutions, focusing on customization and integration needs for enterprise clients
• Work closely with cross-functional teams to align backend architecture with overall product strategy and user experience
