Job summary

BioLife Plasma Services is hiring a Medical Support Specialist in Baltimore, Maryland. In this role, you will support daily operations of the plasma collection center, ensuring donor eligibility and safety while conducting medical assessments.

The ideal candidate will have a valid RN, NP, or PA license with two years of clinical experience, along with comprehensive training in plasma collection. A competitive hourly wage, health benefits, and retirement plans are included.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Act as Pandemic Coordinator when necessary.

Job description

Medical Support Specialist (Plasma Center Nurse) – Overview

Support daily operations of a BioLife Plasma Collection Center in Baltimore, MD, ensuring donor eligibility, safety, and quality of plasma collection.

Responsibilities
  • Determine donor eligibility, manage donor adverse events, review laboratory results, and notify donors of unsuitable test results.
  • Conduct informed consent, AIDS education, medical history interviews, physical examinations, blood testing, and review of serological protein electrophoresis (SPE).
  • Evaluate donor reactions, follow SOPs for medical emergencies, and coordinate care with the Center Physician.
  • Refer to the Center Physician or Medical Affairs for unacceptable findings or medical/technical issues.
  • Support Hepatitis B and seasonal flu vaccination programs for employees.
  • Manage employee incidents, determine further evaluation, and consult EHS guidance.
  • Act as Pandemic Coordinator when authorized by EHS to investigate pandemic threats.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent, or graduate certification from a recognized nursing program with state requirements.
  • Current state license or certification: Registered Nurse (RN), Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA).
  • Current CPR and AED certification.
  • State licensure for basic IV therapy.
  • Completion of FDA‑approved training for BioLife Medical Support Specialist.
  • Two years’ clinical or hospital experience.
