Job Overview

Medical Support Specialist (Plasma Center Nurse) at BioLife Plasma Services reports to the Plasma Center Manager. The specialist supports plasma center operations by determining donor eligibility, managing donor adverse events, reviewing laboratory test results, and ensuring regulatory compliance. The role collaborates with the Center Physician and Medical Affairs for medical guidance.

Key Responsibilities

• Determine donor eligibility, including proper management of informed consent, AIDS education, confidential self‑exclusion, medical history interview, physical examination, blood testing, and review of serological protein electrophoresis (SPE) results.
• Evaluate donor reactions and perform medical emergencies in accordance with SOPs, including development of standing orders and coordination of donor transport to emergency care facilities.
• Refer to the Center Physician or Medical Affairs for unacceptable findings or medical/technical guidance regarding donor safety and eligibility.
• Support the Hepatitis B and Seasonal Flu vaccination programs for employees.
• Manage employee incidents and determine whether further evaluation is required by occupational health/ER, following EHS guidance for employee incidents.
• Act as Pandemic Coordinator when authorized by EHS to support investigations related to pandemic threats within the local community.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; or a graduate nursing program with state licensing requirements.
• Currently licensed or certified in the state: Registered Nurse (RN), Nurse Practitioner (NP), or Physician Assistant (PA).
• Current CPR and AED certification.
• Fulfill state requirements for basic IV therapy.
• Complete FDA‑approved training for BioLife Medical Support Specialist.
• Two years in a clinical or hospital setting.

Location and Compensation

United States – Missouri – Kansas City – 82nd Terrace

Hourly wage range: $33.44 – $45.98. Additional compensation may include short‑term incentives, benefits such as medical, dental, vision, 401(k) with company match, disability coverage, life insurance, tuition reimbursement, paid volunteer time off, company holidays, wellbeing benefits, sick time (80 hours), and paid vacation (up to 120 hours).
